Welcome to The Parrot's Perch
Website!
I'm Tina Usher, and all of my life I have
been captivated by all types of birds. I am a
small aviary just outside of Chicago and I had
been breeding the large parrots since 1981. I
did breed and raise Moluccan,
Umbrella and Medium Sulphur Crested (Elenora)
Cockatoos, Green Wing Macaws and African Greys.
Over the last few years, I have had a gradual change
of heart about breeding due to the countless, unwanted pet birds in
need of loving homes. So, after extensive soul searching, The Parrot's Perch has decided to no longer breed the cockatoos
and macaws. Please read my article Heartfelt Thoughts from a Reformed Parrot Breeder for more information. For now, I am raising a few African Greys while I pursue my dream
of opening a parrot rescue.
I also provide professional in-your-home grooming
and behavioral consultations. Seeing
the need, I am now offering care, training
and behavior workshops
to help bird owners mend and/or improve
their relationships with their avian
pals. I'm using my education, training,
experience and love for our birds to
teach people how to understand and live
happily with their avian companions.
